I wanted to share some photos from a recent capture that I carried out at the Screen on the Green in Islington, London. The scan was carried out on behalf of Matterport, the photos were taken on my iPhone and are not reflective of either the scan or the 4k photos that one can take from the capture.
First off there is a lot of history connected to this cinema so it was a privilege for me to do it. The Sex Pistols and The Clash played here back in 1976. I’ve included some literature that was framed on the wall. Apparently the original stage is still there underneath the one you can see in the photo.
It’s a single screen cinema so the environment feels very exclusive and intimate. There is a bar at the back and one in the foyer.

What’s it like to scan?
I love scanning cinemas, mainly because I love going to them and talking to the staff about films they like. Sometimes it can be tricky because the theatres can be quite dark and the Matterport camera can struggle to find out where it is exactly between the rows of seats.
I don’t scan the POV from every seat, but I do want to scan from every row.
With a single screen cinema the biggest conundrum was whether to scan the bathroom or not! Eventually after some consultation with the staff I decided to keep the bathroom doors closed as you could see inside the bathroom from many vantage points within the theatre.
As for the cinema itself, you can see listings and book private events straight through their website.
